The Pahls for Porch Project

Joy (47), Kyra (17), Griffin (15), Gregg (46). Kent, Ohio.

I've known this family for a good amount of years. I photographed their daughter Kyra's senior photos on a chilly morning back in October. She's obviously missing out on the last few weeks of her Senior year at Roosevelt High School in Kent where she was extremely involved in Art and Drama. Grif is a Sophomore there who plays soccer and lacrosse (he misses playing lacrosse right now). They're both enjoying time away other than their normal activities. Joy is a familiar face in town as she's the Branch Manager at Hometown Bank in Kent. Gregg works for ATT as an outside repairman who spends quite a bit of time outdoors either fishing, hiking or metal detecting (I love watching his videos on Instagram!).

They're hiking together on the trails and "spending time together in our wonderful little city of Kent." But, they're also missing get-togethers with friends on their porch. Joy is extremely busy at the bank - who have taken some considerable steps to make sure their employees and customers are safe.

Even though I spent a few minutes there, it was nice catching up. It reminds how many people I normally interact with on a daily or weekly basis and how I'm not afforded that opportunity right now, at least not in the way it used to be. I look forward to having a beer on their porch in a few months.
