The Walters for the Porch Project - Photographing Communities impacted by Pandemic by Roger Hoover
Chrissy (47), Oliver (10) and Kevin (42). Kent, Ohio.
Chrissy and Kevin are grateful to be able to work from home while their son, Oliver, is off from school. Oliver loves baseball. Right now he's not able to be practice with his teammates. Both Chrissy and Kevin are concerned about their parents. They are often delivering groceries to family members or catching up over video chat with their loved ones.
I've known Chrissy, Oliver and Kevin for a long time. I can tell you with complete sincerity that Chrissy and Kevin have that rare, genuine love and respect for one another that so many of us look for throughout life. I always cherish seeing the two of them together. This moment was no different.
I remember playing ball as a boy. Playing catch in our apartment complex with my little brother for hours on end. No doubt Oliver is playing catch in the backyard with his parents. But he'll be missing the Cleveland Indians' home opener tomorrow, like so many of us. Its a rite of Spring.
He'll look back and remember this time surrounded by the comfort and love that I know Chrissy and Kevin are providing for him. And, letting him play video games. Let kids be kids.
