The Geldhofs for the Porch Project

Jay (59) and Ivy (13)

Jay’s been a comics artist and freelance illustrator for 35 years, so he’s used to working at home, alone. With everything going on, it seems kind of petty to complain about not being able to get out, hang with friends, play ping pong and have a beer, but these are the things that keep someone who works at home sane! Fortunately I have my daughter Ivy with me half the time. She’s an infinitely better conversationalist than my cats. Seriously though, I have an amazing circle of friends that reach out to me daily and I’m more thankful for them now than ever.

Ivy is Jay’s daughter a 7th grade student. She loves seeing her friends at school and being able to go out with family and friends on the weekends. Covid-19 has prevented her from doing that and leaving the house at all except for the five minute car ride between her Mom’s and Dad’s houses. It can get pretty boring but it helps that she has her dad, mom, and 4 siblings to talk to, and her adorable pets.
