The Malarciks for the Porch Project - Photographing Communities impacted by Pandemic by Roger Hoover
Heather, 47, and Daniel (Yeti), 49. Kent, Ohio.
Heather is the Executive Director of Main Street Kent. She spearheads local events, festivals, and concepts that drive people to downtown Kent. Right now, with most businesses closed, there's very little she can do to promote downtown. Upcoming festivals may be closed, postponed, or moved altogether.
Her husband, Daniel (who is widely known in town as Yeti) is a first responder in the city of Akron, Ohio. He worries about the staff and the citizens above his own safety, though he acknowledged that he'll more than likely contract coronavirus.
So, together, Heather and Yeti are exploring ways to partition their house when he returns daily from work as a precaution to keep them all safe. Both of them were far more concerned about their community than they were themselves.
Like most of us, they worry about their parents, whom are kept at distance for safety reasons. Still, they're taking this time to enjoy walks, celebrate birthdays by driving by houses and honking horns, and sharing moments over Facetime and Skype with loved ones.
